Where the Hell Did Winter GO?

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not truly missing snow and ice storms. Having said that, in a country where snow and ice is as normal and expected as breathing it does make you take a long hard look around and wonder just what is going on in this world. Mind you, it is early January and official winter is only half over so we may yet see snow up to our ying yangs. It is a bit hard to swallow that here we are on the 5th of January and daytime temp is 45F (12C). I’ve seen winters where we had little snow but cold temps but I can’t remember as many mild temperatures. The precipitation is present, we’ve had enough rain that were it snow we would be complaining about that. Maybe that is the main thing…we Canucks love to complain about the weather. Now, there are reports circulating that we are having an El Nino effect which is producing warm air to circulate over Canada. This effect happens about every 10 years or so. Possibly… I guess the question is… do we have short memories and this is just a cycle which will be repeated in 10 years or so? Or is the effect being enhanced because of global warming?
