On July 20,1969 — just 2 years and 4 days after my baby sister Lynn was born — Neil Armstrong stepped off of Apollo 11 and into the history books as the first person to set foot on the moon. On Sunday, January 28th, Apollo Donald arrived in this world to become my baby sister’s first grandchild weighing in at 4lbs 12oz and arriving six weeks early. We’re not sure what heights Apollo will rise to but for the moment just being healthy and thriving will be enough. (click picture for a larger view)
Apollo’s mom, Destiny, had a tough go to bring the little guy into the world but I hear she’s doing well now. His dad, my nephew Max, hasn’t yet brought his jaw off the floor enough to provide a statement. I’m told that he was a really great support for Destiny during Apollo’s birth. Good for you dad, remember that birth is just the starting event… life as you knew it has changed LOL.
As for Grandma and Grandpa, aka Lynn and Chris, and new Aunt Megan, they are happy and excited at the litle guy’s arrival. Apollo’s arrival makes me a Great Aunt again.. well actually, I’ve always been a great aunt (humble, shy, and unassumig too <cough><choke>) but now I am by generational definition. Speaking of great aunts, I am going to bet Megan is going to be one. She’s got some pretty firm ideas and a great manner with youngsters. Apollo will have a role model to admire there and Megan will get to spoil him — aunt’s revenge <grin>
I can’t wait until I get a chance to head to London and see the little guy.
