PattiDigital Effects
I have a new digital camera and some software on my computer with which I can do some playing around with digital effects on photos I’ve shot. I’m pretty new at doing this so some of my efforts will likely be pretty lame.
Here’s a couple I’ve played with using, guess who, Dawn as the subject. As always, clicking on the thumb print will load an enlarged print. More

14:15 The World Junior Hockey Championship gold medal game is underway right now. Team Canada dumped the US yesterday to earn their spot in this game. At this point, the game is 3-0 in the first period. The three goals were scored within minutes of each other to put Canada into the lead. A Team Canada vs Russia is a classic matchup, one that Canadians who follow hockey love to see battled out.
At one time I used to follow hockey avidly. These days, I am not as liable to pay attention until days like this.
14:40 Six minutes into the second period and Canada has widened the lead by another goal. 4-0 Canada
14:50 Russia has registered their first goal of the game, still in the second period. One can never under estimate the Russian players.
16:20 Canada takes the GOLD!!… I got distracted for a bit on a phone call and hang up to discover… WE WON!! 4-2 over Russia. For some commentary on the game visit here.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I am not truly missing snow and ice storms.

Mind you, it is early January and official winter is only half over so we may yet see snow up to our ying yangs. It is a bit hard to swallow that here we are on the 5th of January and daytime temp is 45F (12C). More

As I’ve mentioned in a couple of my posts recently, I have added a kitten to my little household. She’s now about 3 months old. She was six weeks old when I got her in November which would put her date of birth around the first week in October. While still pretty wild most of the time she is beginning to settle down as she gets used to the world around her. More

This is the sixth book in the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.

The basic premise of the series is a time travelling heroine, Claire, who leaves post war Scotland and lands in 18th century Scotland, meets, falls in love and marries Jamie an ancestor of her 20th century husband. Early in the series Claire returned, pregnant by Jamie, to the 20th century but after her daughter reaches adulthood Claire finds herself pulled back to be with Jamie. She manages to convince her daughter that she’s telling the truth about the time travel and is planning on going back. Her daughter then not only follows but takes her 20th century boy friend along with.

So, another year has passed. It’s been a year I will be glad to see end and the slate on a new one clean and ready to go.
The overwhelming event of this past year was the rather abrupt loss of my father followed by my one brother’s rather bizarre and hostile behaviour. Then there was the loss of one of my feline friends in October.
On the upside, out of the loss of dad, four of his five kids have been drawn closer and more communication has been taking place between us than in many past years. Hopefully that will continue… (note, call your sister stupid). So in a way, More
