Words from the Front

We’ve lost another young Canadian in Afghanistan. This young man, Cpl Ronald Megeney, from Nova Scotia, died from what appears to be at this time an accident, although when it comes to firearms in the military, there are no accidents. It is likely that at least one soldier is going to be in some pretty serious trouble.

While it is hard for Canadians to watch as young men and women this country has sent into harms way come home in coffins instead of into the loving arms of their families, the ones it is hardest on, other than the families, are the comrades they leave behind.

I came across this entry on Straight Shooter by Canadian soldier stationed at Kandahar. If you can read it without tears coming to your eyes.. you gotta be one cold bastard.

We Will Remember Him

In honour of our fallen CanadiansThey shall grow not old, as we who are left grow old
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning
We will remember them

In memory of our fallen Canadian:

Cpl Ronald Megeney –Afghanistan Mar. 07, 2007
