I know, it is traditional to write a New Years entry on New Years Day. However, when you’re involved in the Legion, New Years Eve and New Years Day merge into one long day with a nap between 2am and 7am, if you’re lucky. So, for all my readers — Happy New Year!! — just a day late and a dollar short.
Hard to believe a whole year has passed again. So what do I resolve for 2008? Well, for this blog I want to resolve there will be at least 300 more entries by the end of the year. My prayer is that none of them will be remembrance postings for soldiers killed in Afghanistan serving my country.
Later today I will go to a bridge along the Highway of Heroes (highway 401) and take part in rendering honours to another fallen Canadian being returned home from Afghanistan. As much as I pray for no more deaths, I know as long as Canada remains committed to supporting the establishment of a better life and peace in Afghanistan we will lose more young Canadians. As much as it hurts when one is lost, I continue to support the troops and their mission.
New Years came in stormy. Oh, I sooo wanted to just curl up with one of my books on my ‘to be read’ stack yesterday morning rather than venturing out to the branch for the Levee. Being as the President is supposed to set an example, venture out I did. Turn out was down but I expect that was largely attributable to the weather.
Oh yeah, speaking of reading, I have now finished three of the five books for this year’s Canada Reads which I will be posting about over on my Ides of Books blog, which needs a resolution to see about 150 more posts to this year.
It’s been a year of busyness but not as much attained as I had hoped for but that is past can’t be dwelled on. I’m looking forward to putting more focused effort into my online business efforts. Focus is the most important need for me. Rich Schefren recently released the second part of his Attention Age Doctrine, the two parts of the report explores the attention deficit that results from our information overload.
As I read through the report his statements resonated. It is very easy in this age of mass information available at a mouse click to get distracted and not remain focused on the task at hand.
That is likely one of the main reasons my blogs not being updated as often as I want. In some ways I’m like a sponge soaking up information and forgetting that I need to occasionally wring out the sponge and let some out of what I’ve digested. Another resolution to push for this year. I’m planning on talking about this more over on It’s All About Money.
